Now that spring has officially sprung, IIDA NY is gearing up for an eventful season. The local chapter has three events on the books: The Pioneering Design Lecture Series featuring a day in the life of the Guggenheim’s Dr. Valerie Hillings, the association’s annual Leaders Breakfast with keynote speaker Paola Antonelli of MoMA, and Design Exchange NYC, a forum where people will be challenged to explore different approaches to design.

· Design Exchange NYC: Thursday, May 7, 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Harpercollins Publishers. Aiming to connect unexpected people and places, Design Exchange NYC will challenge attendees to go outside their comfort zones. Guests can enjoy refreshments as they explore unique ideas and creative approaches to design.
· Pioneering Design Lecture Series: Monday, May 11, 6:00-9:00 p.m. at NYU Global Center Grand Hall. Peek inside a day in the life of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation’s curator and manager, Dr. Valerie Hillings. She has been a curator at Guggenheim since 2004 organizing exhibitions along with her team at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum New York, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Deutsche Guggenheim, and the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum in Las Vegas. She is currently leading the Guggenheim’s curatorial team responsible for building a permanent collection and developing exhibitions for the future Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
· 2015 Leaders Breakfast: Thursday, May 14, 7:30-10:30 a.m. at event space 583 Park Avenue. Come nosh with members of IIDA NY as they recognize not one, but two of its members who have made a significant impact on the design industry. Keynoting the morning event will be Paola Antonelli, senior curator of architecture and design, and director of research and development for MoMA.
