CHICAGO - The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and Tandus recently announced a collaboration to produce a comprehensive series of events for government designers in 2008.
Led by Deborah Loveridge, 2006-2008 Government Forum advisor, IIDA's Government Forum provides a venue for discussion and dissemination of knowledge related to government design. IIDA members participating in the Government Forum commit to enhancing the quality of interior design in public and government facilities at the federal, state, city and local levels through professional advocacy, member services, and member interaction. This collaboration with Tandus is a step in the Association's commitment to offering programs directly relevant to this growing sector of the profession.
Programs are currently being planned for Wednesday, June 11, 2008 as part of NeoCon® World's Trade Fair in Chicago and for October 29, 2008 as part of NeoCon East in Baltimore.
The June 11 program, titled "United by Design," will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Westin Michigan Avenue in Chicago and will feature a keynote address by world-renowned industrial designer Yves Béhar. The October 29 program will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Baltimore Convention Center. In addition to the Baltimore
Government Forum educational session, IIDA will unveil the winners of its inaugural "Excellence in Government Design Awards" in a presentation on the show floor later that day.
"The IIDA Government Forum is proud to partner with Tandus to address the latest issues and trends in government design at key industry events in 2008. IIDA looks forward to bringing quality educational programming to our members in this ever- growing sector of interior design," notes Loveridge.
"We are excited about this new collaboration with IIDA and anticipate a long future for it," says Ross Leonard, director, Architecture and Design Marketing, Tandus. "While good design is vital for all types of clients and projects, design excellence in government buildings benefits all of us. For Tandus, we want to be an intellectual partner to the profession and help promote the value of design in this segment."
