ASID Announces Search for New Chief Executive

WASHINGTON—The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) announces plans are underway to recruit a successor for current ASID Executive Director Michael Alin, Hon. FASID, who is retiring effective October 1, 2011 following 20 years of service with the organization.

ASID President Michael A. Thomas, FASID, launched a nine-member task force in June that has been responsible for obtaining input from ASID stakeholder groups and developing the leadership criteria and job description for a new executive vice president/chief executive officer. The task force, comprised of a team of ASID members and officers, has retained the consultancy services of The Greenway Group to manage the search and hiring process.

A full job description may be viewed below or at the Greenway Group’s website. Questions should be directed to Douglas R. Parker, managing principal at Greenway Group at or (720) 841-8581.

“This endeavor will be a thoughtful and thorough process, one that will require the task force to look to the future of the design profession to ensure that ASID remains the leading voice of the profession and continues to be the definitive resource for our members as our profession continues to evolve,” says Thomas.

To help achieve this goal, the task force has outlined a scope of strategic activities to guide the future direction of the organization, including a continued commitment to support emerging professionals, students, and the diverse and evolving practice needs of ASID members.

ASID staff and will demonstrate fiscal responsibility. Working in concert with the Board and staff, the EVP/CEO will develop and implement strategies that support the organization’s goals through leadership to all stakeholders of the Society.
