Warmth + Human Spirit: BDNY 2012 Photo Recap

The third annual BDNY tradeshow event was brimming with activity and positivity, despite some wreckage caused by Hurricane Sandy. We tracked down some of the booths that went toe-to-toe with the storm, and talked with designers about their recovery. We also found an emerging use of warmer, fleshier tones, and a continuing turn to golds and pinker metallics.

We may think of engineered fibers as a relatively new phenomenon. But a good sheepherder knows that wool is actually the first “engineered” fiber. “How so?” you may ask. Because sheep breeds were refined and crossbred so the wool fibers would have specific performance properties.
