To become more accessible to designers, Brooklyn-based furniture manufacturer Uhuru recently opened a Manhattan showroom with a curated collection of its unique designs.

The Uhuru showroom in the fashion-forward Tribeca neighborhood of New York City opened in May 2015 as an extension of the furniture producer’s workshop in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The new location is easier to get to for Manhattan-based designers, and showcases the possibilities of the well-crafted brand. BKLYN DESIGNS Extends Deadline for Install Competition
The deadline for the BKLYN DESIGNS competition for an original, site-specific installation has been extended to Friday, March 17, 2017. Commissioned by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, the installation offers an alternative avenue for designers, architects, artists, and makers to illustrate their work during NYCxDESIGN – the official citywide celebration of design. BKLYN DESIGNS will take place at the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint from May 5-7, 2017.

EwingCole Designs Renovations to The Pavilion at Villanova University
Philadelphia-based architecture and engineering firm EwingCole has designed a $60,000,000 renovation to The Pavilion, home of the 2016 NCAA men’s basketball champion Villanova Wildcats. EwingCole’s renderings of the new facility were revealed on March 8, at a ceremony held in conjunction with the Big East Basketball Tournament in New York City. Renovations on the Pavilion are expected to begin in June 2017 and be completed for the start of the 2018-19 basketball season.
