The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) has announced The 2013 INDEX & Office Exhibition Product Design Awards, honoring manufacturers and designers for their excellence in product design serving the residential and commercial office industries, and The 2013 Middle East Interior Design Competition, recognizing and rewarding exceptional Interior Design/architecture projects in the Middle East, and celebrating new ideas and techniques in the designing and furnishing of interior spaces.
“This is IIDA’s third collaboration with the INDEX & Office Exhibition Trade Show and the Middle East Interior Design Competition,” Cheryl Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP, Executive Vice President and CEO, IIDA, said. “Each year we look forward to celebrating the excellence in both Product Design and Interior Design found in the Middle East, and anticipate the continuation of that distinction in the entries submitted.”
The competitions are now open, and submissions are being accepted in numerous categories for each.
For the INDEX & Office Exhibition Product Design Awards, categories include: Applied Finishes/Materials Accessories or Specialties; Bathroom; Case Goods/Free-Standing Furniture; Decorative Accessories; Flooring; Kitchen; Lighting; Seating; Specialties; Tables; Security/Technology; and Textiles. Only exhibitors at 2013 INDEX or The Office Exhibition are eligible to participate.
Categories in The Middle East Interior Design Competition are as follows: Corporate Space Large; Corporate Space Small; Cultural/Institutional/Educational; Healthcare; Hotels; Municipal/Public Spaces; Restaurants; Retail; Spas/Fitness/Wellness Centers. The project must be located in the Middle East, although the design firm may be located anywhere. The project(s) must have been completed between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2012.
The jury will consist of a panel of design professionals to be announced at a future date. Judging will take place May 4, 2013, with winners being announced and celebrated during the 2013 INDEX show in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, May 20-23, 2013. The Best of Competition winners from both competitions will also be revealed at this time. All winners will be published on the IIDA website.
Deadline for entries in both competitions is April 24, 2013.
