CHICAGO—The Design Center is excited to announce Maya Romanoff, producer of wallcoverings and interior furnishings, recently opened their flagship showroom in early February at The Merchandise Mart, Suite 6-167. Having recently celebrated their 40th anniversary, Maya Romanoff will use the new showroom to showcase the brand’s celebrated wallcoverings and surfacing materials in innovative ways.

“Our showroom is a total experience,” says Joyce Romanoff, president of Maya Romanoff. “Visitors are immersed in the materials and gain a wholly different understanding of the impact of our wallcoverings and fabrics. It is a joy to welcome architects, designers and their clients who have known us for years, but now get a completely different sense of what it is like to live with our materials. Of course, the site of our flagship showroom has to be the Merchandise Mart.”

Design Collaboratives, Chicago, envisioned and implemented the groundbreaking architecture and interior design for the new showroom, incorporating preliminary design ideas from the Rockwell Group, New York. The showroom is designed with a warm, neutral color palette to support the full range of the Maya Romanoff product color offering. By incorporating innovative, custom product displays throughout the space including the 60-foot brand/product entryway, the showroom exhibits the quality and detail given to each Maya Romanoff product.

Maya Romanoff, renowned for extraordinary surfaces since 1969, is launching new products in the showroom including Fabricadazzle™, inspired by classic natural fiber weaves using recycled polyester and GreenShield stain protection; Flexi Mother of Pearl Brick™, a thinner and more flexible version of Romanoff’s original Mother of Pearl design, yet just as beautiful and durable; and Polyhide Collection Lightning™, a green alternative to leather with a metallic sheen made from 100 percent polyurethane, backed with rayon for flexibility.

An artistic spirit and an enduring commitment to design have proven to be driving forces in consistently creating luxurious and sophisticated wall coverings for a wide variety of interiors, all mainly crafted in Maya Romanoff Corporate Headquarters in Skokie, Ill.

“Maya Romanoff is a legendary Chicago designer with a loyal following around the globe,” says John H. Brennen III, executive vice president, MMPI. “We are thrilled that they chose to open their first showroom within the Design Center and continue to provide luxury wallcoverings to our designers and their clientele.”
