John Askew has 27 years of experience with electrical design up to 34,500 volts. He has designed new and upgraded electrical systems for a number of facilities including colleges, hospitals, public schools, residential and commercial spaces, industrial facilities and ski areas. Designs include power, lighting, telecommunications, fire alarm, nurse call, public address and security systems. He also has experience with alternative energy projects involving photovoltaics and fuel cells, as well as the design of emergency generator and co-generation installations, including assistance during the permitting process for distribution generation facilities. The distribution generation system designs have included induction and synchronous generators, using energy sources produced by such methods as a facility’s steam plant or a farm’s methane produced from cow manure and food refuse.
He has over 15 years of experience in the electric utility business, and was responsible for designing new or upgraded overhead and underground primary voltage systems, the design and installation of protection relaying devices and settings, and primary voltage system troubleshooting. John has also worked with numerous customers to evaluate ways to save energy or energy costs through the use of energy efficiency measures or alternative energy solutions.
