Aged Woods Achieves FSC Certification

Aged Woods Inc, a leading supplier of reclaimed, re-milled antique wood flooring under the brand name Aged Woods®, announced the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) has granted Chain of Custody certification for its precision-milled hardwood flooring products through Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). The FSC has accredited SCS to certify companies according to its international standards in place to help promote the environmentally appropriate management of the world’s forests. Aged Woods’ FSC Chain of Custody certificate code is SCS-COC-002779.

FSC Chain of Custody certification guarantees Aged Woods’ ability to meet the strict product tracking requirements for its reclaimed antique wood flooring that adds authentic, rustic character to any interior residential or commercial space. In addition to earning FSC Chain of Custody certification, Aged Woods’ flooring can contribute valuable points across all LEED Green Building Rating Systems involving interior building products under the Materials and Resources (MR) category, specifically toward MRc3 (Material/Resource Reuse). Aged Woods’ core harvesting area is within 500 miles of several major metropolitan statistical areas in the Washington, D.C., New York, NY corridor, extending to Detroit, Indianapolis, Knoxville, TN, and Columbia, SC, where the specification of its reclaimed hardwood flooring can contribute LEED points under the “Regional Materials” credit MRc5.

FSC is an international organization that promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forest. Visit www.fsc.org to learn more.

Aged Woods® brand flooring is precision-milled from reclaimed wood that has been diverted from the deconstruction waste stream and the inevitable landfill. Proper kiln-drying before milling assures a stable, top-quality floor. The look of Aged Woods’ flooring is natural, offering authentic rustic character from a century or two of weathering and/or use and signs of old-time craftsmen. The use of Aged Woods’ products can help achieve certification under any of the LEED Green Building Rating Systems involving interior building materials.
