Herman Miller Honored with Industry 'Design for Recycling' Award

Herman Miller has been recognized by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI) with its 2009 Design for Recycling award. Representing the collective voice of more than 1,600 member companies, many with global operations, the award recognizes excellence in design innovation, together with the advancement of recycling throughout the design and manufacturing process.

Herman Miller was presented with the award before several thousand member delegates during the recent annual ISRI Convention and Exposition in Las Vegas. Paul Murray, Herman Miller’s director of environmental health and safety, accepted the prestigious award, which was presented by former President Bill Clinton.

Nominated by Michigan-based recycler Louis Padnos Iron & Metal, the company was selected from several notable finalists, including Toyota and Wal-Mart. Past award winners include Hewlett Packard and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
