Energy Tax Credit Expiring Soon

Earn up to $1.80 per square foot for efficiency upgrades

Energy Efficient Building Tax Deduction is expiring soon.

Have you cashed in on the Energy Efficient Building Tax Deduction yet?

Mark your calendars – this tax credit, also known as EPAct, requires that your upgrades be put into service by the end of this month. Under Section 179D, the provision allows a deduction for improvements to a building's interior lighting systems, HVAC equipment, hot water systems, or envelope.

The amount deductible may be as much as $1.80 per square foot of floor area for buildings that achieve a 50% reduction in energy and power costs. Certification must be obtained to verify that the installation satisfies the energy efficiency requirements.

Owners can apply for the incentive if improvements were put in service in 2006 or later. Tenants are also eligible if they paid for the upgrade.
