Kohler Colors Featuring Jonathan Adler

Who are you?
I am KOHLER Colors featuring Jonathan Adler—four special-edition hues on six enameled cast iron kitchen and bath sinks. I’m a celebration of color, heirloom-quality products and bold design.

Where are you from?
I’m all-American, hailing from the village of Kohler, Wisconsin.

Who in your family do you most resemble?
Though there’s an impressive lineage of color in the Kohler family—my company was the first to introduce hues to plumbing products in 1927—my vibrant looks are completely new to the category. As they say, I’m one of a kind.

What are your biggest turn-ons?
Instantly dialing up the design quotient of a kitchen or bath. Put me in a neutral or all-white interior and let me be the star of the space.

Turn-offs?
Kitchens and baths that are uninspired. Thankfully, my colors instantly add pizzazz and panache to any room.

What inspires you?
Global travel—the locale that inspired each of my colors is revealed in its namesake. Greenwich Green captures the beauty of an English estate; Piccadilly Yellow evokes the colors of London’s Piccadilly Circus; Palermo Blue is a serene splash of the Mediterranean Sea; and Annapolis Navy calls to mind the nautical city of Annapolis on Maryland’s Severn River.

What are your favorite tunes?
“Colors of the Wind,” “True Colors” and “Color My World”—do you think we could get Adele to cover all three in a medley?

How do you lessen your environmental impact?
I give new life to a lot of scrap metal—I like to think of it as reincarnation. Eighty percent of the materials that go into my cast iron sinks are recycled, and after generations of beauty and use, I, too, can be recycled into a new form. How’s that for some good eco-karma?

Describe the secret to your success.
I’m fortunate to belong to a family that’s praised for its impeccable quality, innovative thought and timeless design. It’s not really a secret!
