ATLANTA—The Radical Innovation in Hospitality Award heads into its final month of accepting entries until March 1, 2013. Co-founded and co-produced by The John Hardy Group and Hospitality Design magazine, Radical Innovation has challenged designers and students to create innovative concepts for the past six years.
Finalists will present their concepts in front of the jury and a live audience on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas during HD Expo. In the spirit of democracy, attendees will watch a debate by the jury, then vote for the best concept; the winner will be announced at the conclusion of the event.
All entries will be reviewed and three finalists will be selected by a jury including John Hardy, president/CEO, The John Hardy Group; Claude Amar, president, The John Hardy Group International; Michael Medzigian, chairman/managing partner, Watermark Capital Partners; Jena Thornton, managing director, Eagle Rock Ventures; Simon Turner, president, global development, Starwood Hotels; James Woods, president and CFO, The Bowls; Wing Chao, renowned master planner, architect and designer. The event will be moderated by hospitality authority and speaker, Barbara DeLollis, Hotel Check-In Editor, USA Today.
“Each year, we receive submissions that push the limits of what we expect from traditional hospitality as we set the stage for a showcase of true originality, often introducing groundbreaking concepts from around the world,” says John Hardy, president/CEO, The John Hardy Group.
Entries must include guestrooms and public areas. Food and beverage facilities or other amenities are highly encouraged. All submissions are scored on potential impact on the industry, design creativity, narrative and viability.
The competition is open to all individuals, firms and brands. Students will be judged in their own category without an entry fee. Entries will be accepted from now until March 1, 2013. The grand prize is $10,000, second prize is $5,000, and student prize is $1,500. For more details on the competition, visit www.radicalinnovationinhospitality.com
