JASPER, Ind.--National Office Furniture, a brand unit of Kimball International, Inc., has released its fourth annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report which details the company’s commitments in the areas of community and environment. Building upon a rich history, the report includes activities such as the transition of all National’s veneer casegoods and tables to water-based UV (ultra-violet) finish, IntegraClear™, and the launch of ecoScorecard, a free web-based tool for specifiers and partners to evaluate and document sustainable attributes of the company’s products.

Participation in Soles4Souls, the ANEW repurpose program, employee enrichment and other programs are just some of the company’s efforts that are highlighted in the 2011 CSR Report and testify to National’s commitment to making a difference.

The 2011 CSR report measures National’s performance in the areas of environmental and social responsibility and was written within a framework based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Guidelines. The 2011 CSR report includes 36 GRI elements.

Demonstrating personality at National and in the community, some report highlights include:

A $25,000 award went to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, Oregon, and Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, was also a $25,000 winner. The Gift of Inspiration program allows National to give back to organizations within these markets with financial gifts that may be used for technology needs, scholarships, enrichment and development programs, or facility enhancements.

“At National, we thrive in a continuous improvement culture and are fortunate to have incredible employees that strive to do their personal best every day at work, home and in the community. Therefore, when we make a commitment to environmental and social stewardship, our people make it happen. For this commitment from our employees and the surrounding communities, we at National are grateful; and feel it is our duty to give back to help forge a more prosperous future,” says Kevin McCoy, general manager, National Office Furniture, vice president, Kimball International.
