ExxonMobil Office Complex by Pickard Chilton

When ExxonMobil decided it was time to consolidate employees currently working in a variety of locations around the greater Houston area, it turned to the New Haven, Conn.-based firm Pickard Chilton to plan and design a new office complex.

The resulting design comprises multiple low-rise office buildings, a laboratory, conference and training centers, facilities for services such as child care, a wellness center and other employee amenities. Pickard Chilton’s collaborators included PDR as program manager and interior architect, Gensler as record and interior architect, and Hargreaves Associates as landscape architect.

Currently under construction on a 385-acre wooded site, the sprawling complex has been designed to high standards of energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. The new campus will provide a high-quality working environment and promote new opportunities for employee collaboration.

“From the start of this development, it has been clear that the project is about ExxonMobil putting its employees first,” says Principal William Chilton, FAIA, RIBA. “It is always rewarding to work with clients that appreciate and value the impact that quality architecture can have on their business and their employees’ well-being.”

Principal Anthony Markese, AIA, LEED AP agreed. “Throughout the design process, we maintained the mindset of inspiring greatness—creating an open and welcoming environment for the employees to enjoy within this beautiful site.”

Employees will move in phases as the buildings are constructed, beginning in early 2014. Full occupancy for Houston-based employees is expected by 2015. For more information, visit www.pickardchilton.com.
