IIDA Announces Events at NeoCon East 2011

CHICAGO—The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) will be participating in several inspiring programs at the upcoming NeoCon East exposition November 2-3 at the Baltimore Convention Center. Throughout the conference, IIDA will provide a platform for provocative discussion topics and serve as a resource for attendees.

IIDA invites design firm leaders to the 2011 IIDA Principals’ Roundtable. The event, focused on design leadership, will be moderated by Mark Strauss and Cheryl Durst, Hon. FIIDA, executive vice president and CEO of IIDA. This this high-profile think tank is for principals and senior management of local A&D firms only. RSVP by Oct. 24 to Jeanne Fisher at iidahq@iida.org or call (888) 799-IIDA.

IIDA will host a town hall meeting, co-sponsored by GSA titled, “Overcoming Obstacles to Sustainable Government Interiors.” Held on November 3 from 9-10 a.m., Katie Weeks of Eco-Structure magazine will lead the discussion on government agencies incorporating the “Zero Impact” ideal, challenges of sustainability in government projects and issues facing downsized spaces for the future.

IIDA is also looking for submissions for the NeoCon East Booth Design Competition, which aims to recognize originality of design, effective use of materials and excellent use of space, color, texture, lighting and graphics in booths. Winners will be featured online at the IIDA and the Merchandise Mart’s websites. The entry deadline is October 27, 2011.

Students can get insider advice on the job hunt at IIDA’s Career Bootcamp, to be held on November 3 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. This free program features a panel of recent grads who will share current hiring trends, ways to secure a job and methods to transition from student to industry professional. Learn tips for job search strategies and discover personal branding techniques for students.
