CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio (August 2011) – Johnsonite, the commercial arm of the Tarkett company and provider of the world’s most integrated high performance flooring system, further expands their innovative and sustainable product portfolio with the introduction of the ECO-NATURALS collection, including Eco-Shell with Cork and Corktones, two new lines of rubber tiles and treads which use significant levels of rapidly renewable and pre-consumer waste stream materials.

Engineered for greater sustainability in rubber flooring, Johnsonite’s ECO-NATURALS Eco-Shell with Cork is manufactured with a 4.5 percent loading by weight of walnut shell, a pre-consumer waste stream material and rapidly renewable resource. Additionally, the product contains cork at a loading of 2.5 percent by weight as well as pre-consumer waste stream material and rapidly renewable resource. Available as 24” x 24” tiles, Eco-Shell with Cork comes in a palette of 24 colors with a standard hammered texture. Stair treads are also available.

ECO-NATURALS CorkTones contains 2.5 percent cork by weight. The tiles are available in 24” x 24” tiles and stair treads in over 32 ColorMatch® colors with a hammered texture including the Johnsonite color match system, providing a wide range of design freedom and flexibility.

Rubber flooring, proven to offer the best return of any resilient floor type available1, is the basis of the ECO-NATURALS line. The products were designed through an environmental process and are FloorScore® certified. The unique composition does not contain phthalates, halogens or chlorine and the product only requires water and a neutral detergent to clean it. ECO-NATURALS qualifies under Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) for both rapidly renewable materials and pre-consumer waste stream materials as well as indoor air quality (EIQ 4.3) with FloorScore certification.

In addition to minimizing the product’s life cycle cost, Johnsonite’s ECO-NATURALS rubber tiles’ extreme durability and limited maintenance requirements provide both low-cost upkeep and environmentally responsible practices by using less water, chemicals and energy. Over time, rubber flooring offers greater resource efficiency than many other materials.
