FurnitureLab introduces breakroom contest

A boring 'ol breakroom...

FurnitureLab, a nationally recognized contract dining furniture manufacturer, is hosting a table design contest with a chance to win $500 towards travel and accommodations in Chicago for the 2012 NeoCon World Trade Fair June 11-13, a personalized plaque, promotion at the FurnitureLab NeoCon Booth (#6036), and a full-size version of their winning table.

FurnitureLab has long been in the business of making furniture that can transform an ordinary dining space into something extraordinary. This year, the company is focusing its attention on an often-overlooked venue: the employee break room.

The challenge is to design a tabletop graphic that can transform a typical office break room into an exciting and unique destination. The entrants may use illustrations, collages, original artwork and/or photography. There is no limit to the number of entries per person; however, each entry should be unique and relevant to the contest theme. The contest deadline is April 27 at 5 p.m. EST, and all entries must be submitted via

Both FurnitureLab staff, as well as the public, will judge the contest entries. First, the FurnitureLab team will judge all entries based on three categories: 1. Design Concept (1-10 points) 2. Design Execution (1-10 points) and 3. “Table-ness,” essentially, how well the design functions as a usable table. After the FurnitureLab staff narrows down the pool, the top five entries will be posted online for a public vote. For more information, or to submit your entry, visit

Contest Details: The table design should be made for a 24-in. round or square table top and should be submitted as a JPG no larger than 3MB. If your design is chosen, we will need a production-ready version that is at least 150 PPI when produced at 24 x 24-in. This can be a Photoshop or Illustrator file. Your design may be shown on our website and at NeoCon. By submitting to the “Re-Defining the Breakroom” contest you are authorizing FurnitureLab to reproduce your design and use your name in marketing and promotional materials. FurnitureLab employees, suppliers, representatives or family members may not apply. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.
