Incoming president says ASID board will oversee "several strategic initiatives" in coming year
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) welcomes its 2012 Board of Directors, made up of three officers (past president, president and president-elect), six director-at-large members, one industry partner representative and one chapter support team representative. The board’s responsibilities for 2012 include a number of milestone activities including the transition to a new Chief Executive Officer, the roll-out of a refreshed brand, and a focus on membership benefits.
“The next year will be an exciting one for ASID as the incoming board will oversee several strategic initiatives,” says ASID Board President Lisa Henry, FASID. “We are committed to creating a culture of continuous improvement, organizational effectiveness and leadership development as our profession continues to grow and evolve.”
Barbara S. Marini, FASID, is the interior design project chair at the International Academy of Design and Technology in Troy, Mich. and will serve as President-elect. Past President Michael A. Thomas, FASID is president of The Design Collective Group Inc.
The 2012 Directors-at-Large include Vincent G. Carter, ASID, senior program manager and architect for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Steffany Hollingsworth, ASID, founding partner of HVL Interiors; Sonya Batchelor Odell, FASID, AAHID, RID, advisor with Wayne O’Neill & Associates; Sybil Jane Barrido, ASID, CID, principal designer for SJvD Design; Sonya Dufner, FASID, LEEP AP, associate principal and workplace strategist with Perkins+Will; and Sandy Gordon, FASID, LEED AP, owner of Sandy Gordon Interiors.
Emily Walser, ASID, LEEP AP, sales consultant for Steelcase, will serve as chapter support representative, and Jen Bruno, national training manager for Hansgrohe, will serve as industry partner representative.
