The event is the largest design celebration of its kind nationwide, featuring more than 150 events over 10 days
From October 13-23, 2011 the Philadelphia region will host the 7th annual DesignPhiladelphia (DP). DP is the largest design celebration of its kind nationwide, showcasing the cityʼs rich history and present practices with more than 150 events including lectures, exhibitions, street happenings, workshops, open studios and public forums.
DP reaches over 200,000 tech-savvy professionals, uniquely invested citizens from the A&D community, and college students looking to be part of innovative design conversations. These events unite the creative community from graphic to fashion designers, urban planners to architects, interior designers to multi-media developers.
DesignPhiladelphia is proud to announce that DuPont will continue to sponsor the Dialogues on Design lecture series during the upcoming Fall 2011 citywide program. For three years, DuPont has leveraged DesignPhiladelphiaʼs unique platform to support the cityʼs cultural economy through compelling events, lectures and exhibitions.
“Philadelphia is a bright light, an example of a flourishing architectural and design epicenter,” says Elizabeth Lawson, commercial marketing manager, DuPont Building Innovations. “Through sponsorship of DesignPhiladelphia, DuPont seeks to bolster the regional creative community and support its expansion.”
Past lectures focused on inventive business practices, brand development, and the creative use of products and materials. Dates and times of this yearʼs series vary and will be announced later this summer.
Devising innovative partnerships with international corporations like DuPont, small businesses, funding agencies, the University of the Arts and individuals are at the heart of DesignPhiladelphiaʼs success. These unparalleled relationships bring to the loyal attendees of this 10-day event the opportunity to consider the processes, materials and ideas required to build an office tower, create a website, publish a newspaper or even simply to refinish hardwood floors. Together, DuPont, DesignPhiladelphia, and other important partners shine a light on Philadelphia and the people that make the city a design destination.
DesignPhiladelphia, in partnership with the University of the Arts, advances public awareness of the role design plays in everyday life, all the while enhancing the reputation and vitality of Philadelphia as a design destination and center for creative excellence, engagement, and innovation.
